On Sunday, 18 May 2008 as part of SA History Week, Mayor Robert Bria officially unveiled a Cultural Walk Plaque in dedication to Richards Fine Furniture.

The Cultural Walk Plaque celebrates the 50 year history of the Richards Family Fine-Furniture business and is located in front of the John Richards Furniture shop at 63 The Parade, Norwood.

This business was established in 1956 by John Richards, a talented wood carver, passionate about fine furniture and The Parade. He travelled the world discovering furniture and ideas which he brought back to Norwood.

Over the years people have placed confidence in the name 'John Richards Furniture', a process which continues today under the guidance of his son, Matthew. Matthew joined his father in the business in 1981. John retired in 2000 and Matthew continues at the head of the table at 63 The Parade, where long-standing friendly service, craftsmanship, traditional skills and attention to detail are still hallmarks of the Richards furniture tradition. A third generation now assists in the business as Matthew's son, Luke, helps to deliver style to home and office.

The Richards family has provided personalised service, quality furniture and professional restoration enabling the business to thrive in a time of rapid change. This plaque has been sponsored by Matthew and Judy Richards and family.
